ABC's of Travel Stories: G

Greatest feeling while traveling...

For me, the greatest feeling while travelling is being thousands of miles away from home. I don't mean to sound so negative about being home, but I am the type of person that is always on the go. I like to go out, whether I'm going to the park, mall, friend's house, etc. But to make my itchy feet feel even better I love being surrounded by new places. I've lived in the same city my entire life and to experience the world outside of Ontario is such an amazing feeling. And by experiencing the world, I don't just mean visiting touristy spots. It's nice to be unfamiliar with a place once in a while.

ABC's of Travel Stories: F

Favorite mode of transportation... would definitely have to be subway! Having been downtown Toronto many times, I never really appreciated this method of transportation. In Toronto, there are many places downtown that cannot be reached by the subway alone. Walking and adding a streetcar into the mix is all too confusing for me and till now I cannot do it.

The London Tube!

However, after visiting Paris and London, my mind changed completely. These two cities are ranked some of the top 10 best subway systems in the world. In both Paris and London, it was extremely easy to get around. The numerous subways all over the city also made it very convenient to get from one place to another. I can't quite remember which subway system it was, but each stop had a schedule and a board showing commuters when the next subway was coming. They also had discounted day-passes for youths, which I really loved. Unlimited travel using the subway never left me exhausted.

Sigh of Relief

I finally finished my last essay!!!!! I couldn't believe it. I definitely had 'David After the Dentist' moment and questioned myself, "Is this real life??"

Never gets old! Haha

After completing my essay, I finally found time to add my creative work onto my blog. Be sure to check it out on the 'Work' and leave me a comment on this post! And then after that, I polished up my resume and prepared it in hopes of finding a full-time job this summer. Cross your fingers that things turn out for the best! I cannot spend another summer in retail! If all else fails, I'm leaving the country and backpacking across Europe... Who's with me!? :)

Quick Update

I may have jinxed myself the last post. I had at least one day off from school work and I was back to completing more final assignments. But, no worries because I'm almost done! I'm in the middle of finishing my last essay of the semester and it's going to feel so good handing it in on Monday.

Despite all the stress and pressure I've been feeling from school, I love being rewarded for my hard work. For the second time, the professor and TA in my CCT357 class were really impressed with photos again. My last project for that class was to create a series. My concept was to show the effect technology has made on our everyday lives. I took three photos in three different locations: the mall, the library and the movies.

Instead of going to the mall, technology has allowed us to go shopping at the comfort of our own home. Instead of going to the library, information is always readily available online. And finally, who needs to go to the movies when we can stream them through the Internet. With this concept in mind, I thought it would be effective to have someone so tuned into their technology (in this case, laptop) and not care about his surrounding. Conceptually, the user is not really in these places but the locations are just representations of what the Internet is slowly taking over.

I won't share all 3, but this is my favourite photo from the series

... That's it for my little update, now back to finishing my essay!
